Hi, I’m Luis U.M., a Cg Generalist/3dproducer with a variety of skills ranging from; Modeling (Hard-surface, and organic sculpting), Matte painting, Character effects, VFX, Conceptualizing, Animation, Lighting, 3d Surfacing, Photography, videography, practical effects, short-film screenwriting, story-boarding, editing and others.
I partially studied Industrial Design in ITESM Chihuahua, University that taught me about innovation in entrepreneurship. Learnt the pipeline workflow of manufactured products. Another important aspect I learnt from ITESM was to follow the scientific method for each labor developed. After my Industrial Design studies I did a year focused on films and photography, my true passion. To further explore the basics on the entertainment industry, I traveled to Toronto Canada to study a career on animation, and graduated from the game art and animation program.
with the goal of understanding the principles behind video-game technology, as Virtual reality and Augmented Reality has became the newest branch of communication expression.
Although I graduated as a Video-game artist I have experience in the film Industry as the same Cg principles apply. I’m grateful for it as I gained a further understanding in the different areas of a CGI visual production, and pipelines relating to the state of digital art and techniques.
I worked in the film industry as a hard Surface modeler for Disasters at Sea, and the Old Guard. And as a cfx and Groom artist for different Tv. shows and movies such as; Scary Stories to tell in the dark(groom and sim of digital doubles), Messiah show on Netflix (groom and sim of digital doubles), Monster Hunter(groom and sim of digital doubles), Antlers(cfx cloth sim work only), and American Gods(creature artist), and Maya and the Three (cfx simulation artist).
My true passion is to direct. As before my animation studies, I conceived the idea, that directing was a similar task to an Industrial Designer, where the director/designer had to be involved in all the creative thinking, and understanding even the simplest of deconstruct-able assignment in order to efficiently direct the creative resources with ease, and have the synchronicity to work on each step of the pipeline to assure that, by help develop and learn from peers.
